LAICOS Enterprise Hub, with the help from the College of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph and Capacity Canada, will be hosting an event to highlight the importance of social enterprise in the food industry.
LAICOS Enterprise Hub includes 10 organizations from the Kitchener to Toronto corridor who support the development of businesses and non-profits with incubation and acceleration services. The event will include interactive displays that promote the value of social enterprise in the food industry.
“It is imperative that we foster dialogue surrounding one of the world’s greatest challenges – food security,” said Erin Doherty, Program Manager, Centre for Business and Student Enterprise (CBaSE) at the University of Guelph. “The corridor is home to a number of organizations who are leaders in the food industry and LAICOS Enterprise Hub is proud to be hosting them.”
Keynote speakers will include Kathleen Rodenburg, Assistant Professor in the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management, and Court Desautels, President, Neighbourhood Group of Companies. The pair will discuss how individuals can contribute to the global mission of ending world hunger via innovative and sustainable business practices.
The event is free and takes place at the University of Guelph’s Summerlee Science Complex on Wednesday, May 16th from 5 to 8 p.m. Registration is online [1].
