Corporate Knights’ new ranking lists the Lang School as #1 MBA in Canada, BComm #2.
The Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics has been named one of Canada’s leading business school for its focus on sustainability, according to a ranking conducted by Corporate Knights, one of the world’s largest media publishers with an explicit focus on responsible business.
The rankings list the Lang MBA program [1] 1st in Canada and 6th in the world for its integration of core courses faculty research in sustainability.
Now in its 18th year, the Better World MBA Ranking [2] measures business schools from across the world in the following areas related to sustainability: dedicated research institutes and centres, core curriculum courses, faculty research articles and citations, and faculty gender and racial diversity.
The ranking includes 151 MBA programs from around the world, including the top 100 in the FT Global MBA Ranking 2020.
The Lang School had an overall score of 91.27%. Other prominent business that made the 2020 global ranking include Schulich School of Business, Desautels Faculty of Management, MIT Sloan School of Management, U.C. Berkeley, and Wharton Business School.
Offered online along with on-campus residential experiences, the Lang MBA program [1] is designed for managers and executives in finance, management, government, hospitality, and agriculture and related industries.
Added to this year's ranking is a focus on Canadian undergraduate programs. The Lang School placed 2nd in Canada in this ranking with an overall score of 84.39%.

Since Corporate Knights first started its global ranking, the University of Guelph’s business school has ranked multiple times in the top 10, continually being recognized as a global leader in sustainable business education. In 2018, the Lang School ranked 9th in the world.
The Lang School is one of 39 global business schools to be named a Champion of the United Nation’s responsible business education initiative, PRME [3].
In 2019, students from the Lang School launched an annual case competition devoted specifically to sustainability and business ethics. The student-led competition will commence again, in a virtual setting, later this year.
“As educators, we need to inspire our students to collectively work towards achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals,” said Porth. “The SDG’s provide us with a framework to find innovative, sustainable and real solutions to some of the world’s greatest social challenges.”
