Lang welcomes Dr. Audrey Jamal as the new interim assistant dean, strategic partnerships and societal impact. She will also join the Department of Management as an assistant professor and will commence both appointments on February 15, 2022.
Dr. Jamal earned her PhD from the University of Waterloo and most recently served as the University of Guelph’s chief of staff within the Office of the President.
Her research addresses questions related to local economic development, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. She is currently working in partnership with the Shorefast Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada and the Canadian Urban Institute to map out place-based strategies to activate local economies in five prototype communities across the country. Her work in partnership with 10 Carden Shared Spaces, which explores co-working spaces and strategies for mid-sized cities in Canada, is helping advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She serves on the international Board of Directors for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in higher education (AASHE) and has significant experience with fundraising and community engagement.
