Keith Henry, President, CEO and co-founder of the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada received an Honorary Degree at the U of G's fall 2023 convocation ceremony. Mr. Henry was nominated by the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics.

As a Métis person, Keith Henry’s passionate advocacy for Indigenous tourism has given Indigenous-owned and -operated organizations places to share their stories in their own voices, bringing diversity, authenticity and cultural understanding to the tourism industry.  As president, CEO and co-founder of the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, Mr. Henry initiated a national strategy focused on increasing Indigenous market readiness, jobs and revenues. He has been instrumental in negotiating agreements and partnerships that foster employment and economic development. 

As BC Métis Federation president, Mr. Henry was an ambassador during the Canada 150 celebrations and in 2017, became a director of Tourism HR, a pan-Canadian organization. He is also a former leader of the Native Education College, the Industry Council for Aboriginal Business and the BC Aboriginal Business Association. In 2019, Mr. Henry was executive-in-residence in the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management at U of G, sharing knowledge and experience to improve Indigenous economic development.
