Congratulations to Madison Turner and Christabel Osei-Boateng!
Madison Turner, PhD student in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Christabel Osei-Boateng, MSc student in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, have been named winner and runner-up at the College of Biological Science’s Three Minute Thesis Heat. They will both go on to represent the college at the university-level competition on April 24.
Madison won the competition for her presentation, “Capturing a microscopic dance: Insights on the proteasome,” and Christabel was named runner-up for “Strengthening the playbook on injury detection: Tackling the effects of contact sport on brain health.” Madison and Christabel will receive gifts cards for $250 and $150, respectively.
Madison is working with Dr. Siavash Vahidi in MCB, while Christabel is working with Dr. Mike Tymko in HHNS.
U of Guelph’s Three Minute Thesis Final Competition will be held April 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the ARC Arts Auditorium in MacKinnon. All are welcome to attend. The winner of the university-wide competition will receive a $1,000 prize towards their tuition and will go on to the provincial final held May 8 at Lakehead University.
