The University of Guelph's Real Estate and Housing students won big at the 2016 Retail Real Estate Case Competition in Las Vegas on May 22nd. The competition was hosted by the Cornell University Center for Real Estate and Finance (CREF) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). The invitation only competition welcomed five undergraduate teams (four students each) from top university real estate programs across North America including Cornell University, Ryerson University, University of Colorado, University of Conneticut and the University of Guelph. The teams were presented with a real estate case, based on an actual business transaction. After five days of analysis and preparation, the teams presented their recommendations to a panel of industry judges. With years of retail real estate experience behind them, the judges examined each team’s recommendation during an intensive Q&A session. The winning team from the University of Guelph is Tyler Corlett, Samuel Ives, Daniel Adams and Sam Rolph from the B.Comm., Real Estate and Housing program. The students will also split the $10,000 prize money. This intense competition provided an opportunity for students to practice the skills they have learned in the classroom and showcase themselves to the leaders of the industry.
This marks the second straight victory for the University of Guelph's Real Estate and Housing students after a Guelph team won the Undergraduate Real Estate Case Competition in April.
Congratulations to our winning students!
