– Tachina (Exorista) futilis Osten Sacken, 1887: 161 (junior homonym of Tachina futilis Zetterstedt, 1844; described as "futilis Say, MSS"). Type data: syntypes, males and females, "numerous specimens" (1 female syntype in Harris Collection of MCZ and 1 male and 2 female syntypes in main collection of MCZ). Type locality: unknown (maybe Massachusetts according to Townsend, 1941: 264, and S&A, 1965: 1100). Type host: Vanessa atalanta (Linnaeus), Nymphalidae.
