MEDINA Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830: 138. Type species: Medina cylindrica Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 (= Tachina collaris Fallén, 1820), by subsequent designation of Coquillett, 1910b: 565 [Palearctic].
VELOCIA Robineau-Desvoidy, 1863a: 950. Type species: Velocia cursoria Robineau-Desvoidy, 1863 (= Tachina luctuosa Meigen, 1824, species complex), by subsequent designation of Townsend, 1916e: 9 [Palearctic].
METHYPOSTENA Townsend, 1908: 67. Type species: Hypostena barbata Coquillett, 1895, by monotypy.
TORYNOTACHINA Townsend, 1915j: 102. Type species: Torynotachina quinteri Townsend, 1915, by original designation.

barbata (Coquillett, 1895).– Alaska, British Columbia and Idaho to New Brunswick, south to Virginia, also California, Kansas, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia (S&A, 1965), Yukon, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, North Carolina (CNC), Florida (FSCA), West Virginia (WVU).
– Hypostena barbata Coquillett, 1895c: 57. Type data: lectotype male (USNM), by fixation of Coquillett, 1897: 62 (statement "From the type specimen" is regarded as a lectotype fixation); also by designation of Wood, 1985: 98. Type locality: USA, New Hampshire, Franconia.
