Hello everyone,
As we approach the end of 2024, I find myself reflecting on an incredible year for the Ontario Agricultural College. This year was especially meaningful as we celebrated our 150th anniversary in style, highlighted by a gala event during Alumni Weekend. It was a moment to honor our rich history and the profound impact OAC has had on food, agriculture, communities, and the environment.
In 2024, we proudly welcomed students from across the globe, each bringing unique perspectives and energy to our vibrant community. Our researchers continued to push boundaries, making scientific advancements to combat food insecurity, address climate change, improve the lives of animals, communities and create solutions that will better our world for generations to come.
Our collective accomplishments would not be possible without our exceptional faculty, dedicated staff, passionate students, and loyal alumni. You make OAC a dynamic and inspiring place to work, study and thrive.
While we have much to celebrate, we recognize that challenges persist on campus and around the world. It’s during these times that our strength as a community becomes even more vital. Together, we have proven time and again that we can overcome adversity and create meaningful change.
As the holiday break draws near, I encourage you to take a moment for yourself to recharge and reflect on the past year. To our hardworking students—whether you’ve just wrapped up exams or completed a co-op term—congratulations on all you’ve achieved this semester. It may have been challenging, but your resilience and perseverance will undoubtedly lead to future success.
Thank you all for your contributions to the OAC community. Let’s carry the momentum of 2024 into the opportunities and challenges of 2025 with the same passion and dedication.
Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a bright start to the New Year!
Warm regards,
John Cranfield,
Interim Dean, Ontario Agricultural College
