Cool Running: Alumnus Reid Coolsaet Makes Headlines

U of G alumnus Reid Coolsaet was a Gryphon sensation during his time at the University and continues his success in the professional running world. Coolsaet, 38, was featured in a CBC story after he won the Toronto Waterfront 10K in a time of 30 minutes, 11.2 seconds.

The runner came to U of G in 1998, attracted by running coach Dave Scott-Thomas and the University’s marketing management program. Since graduating in 2003, he has become one of Canada’s all-time best marathoners.

Coolsaet placed ninth in the men’s race of this year’s Boston Marathon. Currently the third-fastest Canadian marathoner ever, he competed in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
