{"id":1553,"date":"2016-07-25T14:46:34","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T14:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.porticomagazine.ca\/?p=1553"},"modified":"2020-10-28T14:40:30","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T18:40:30","slug":"ovc-receives-23-million-provincial-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/porticomagazine.ca\/2016\/07\/ovc-receives-23-million-provincial-investment\/","title":{"rendered":"OVC receives $23-million provincial investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Guelph has received $23 million from the provincial government to support critical infrastructure renewal at the top-ranked Ontario Veterinary College (OVC)<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The funding will support the renovation and expansion of facilities at OVC, including new spaces for enhanced clinical teaching and learning, and advanced surgery and anesthesia facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis critical funding will support our continued accreditation,\u201d says Franco Vaccarino, University of Guelph president. \u201cIt will also help us maintain our leadership position in innovative education and research, and in understanding the powerful connection between animal and human health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Renovations started this summer. The project will include new laboratory and classroom spaces equipped for computer-based case studies, patient simulators and demonstration models.<\/p>\n<p>Modern surgery and anesthesia areas will be built in renovated spaces, and the college will install new equipment and improved biosecurity and infection control.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The
