Student Planning - New System for Course Enrolment
Course enrolment can be a stressful process for students; making sure that they are taking the right courses for their degree, that they have the pre-requisites and that the courses in their schedule do not overlap are just a few of their concerns. To help make course planning and enrolment easier, the University will be launching the Student Planning module in late May, in time for Fall 2020 course enrolment.
What are some of the features of Student Planning?
The Student Planning module has a user-friendly interface that allows the majority of students to check their program requirements, plan their degree, track their academic progress and enrol in courses. It has a more intuitive search tool, and students can easily visualize their course schedule and choose course sections that do not overlap.
The module supports the enhancement of multiple processes that are currently paper based, including the submission of pre-requisite waivers and the handling of course substitutions and exceptions. These improvements will benefit students, program counsellors, course instructors and Registrarial staff, among others.
Where can I learn more?
Additional information will be posted on the Office of Registrarial Services website and WebAdvisor over the next few months. Training videos and user documentation are being created that will help students through every step of the degree planning and course enrolment process. This training material will be available in May so that students can plan their Fall 2020 schedule in advance of course enrolment in June. We recommend that students allow more time to navigate the new system and plan their schedule before their course enrolment window opens.
Hands-on, in-person training will be offered for program counsellors, faculty advisors, graduate program coordinators and other interested staff.
This widely impactful project was made possible with the support and assistance of Computing and Communications Services, the Office of Registrarial Services, the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and the Guelph-Humber and Ridgetown campuses.
