This scholarship was established by Carolyn Oke Langill to support student engagement in experiential learning and community outreach. Carolyn Oke Langill holds a B.A.Sc. in Child Studies from the University of Guelph (1980) and a B.Ed. from University of Western Ontario (1981). Carolyn is a devoted philanthropist, and has spent over 30 years supporting community outreach programs in the Greater Toronto area. In particular, Carolyn places emphasis on supporting children and families thrive in their communities. Apply by May 15 to the CSAHS Awards Committee at csahs.awards@uoguelph.ca with a 500-word letter that describes your volunteer experience, outlines your interest in working with children and families, and a budget for the planned curriculum-embedded activity/travel. Selection will be based on the student’s commitment to community engagement and volunteerism as demonstrated by a 500-word letter describing volunteer experience, an interest in working with children and families, and a review of the activity/travel budget. The experiential learning must be curriculum-embedded and can be local, national, or international, and must be approved by the university. Recipients travelling internationally must adhere to the University of Guelph's Safe Travel Policy and complete the required pre-departure orientation.

Students registered in any program offered by the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences who have experience volunteering in the community, with a demonstrated interest in working with children and families, and who are participating in curriculum-embedded experiential learning in the following academic year.
