The WalterFedy Indigenous Engineering Scholarship, generously funded by WalterFedy, a leading Canadian multi-disciplinary design firm, aims to break down barriers hindering Indigenous engineering students' full participation in their homes, communities, workplaces, and societies. Committed to fostering diversity and inclusion, WalterFedy recognizes the importance of integrating Indigenous voices, perspectives, and knowledge into the field of engineering. This scholarship provides vital financial support to Indigenous students pursuing engineering education. Apply by September 30 to the School of Engineering Awards Committee soe.undergradawards@uoguelph.ca with a 1-2 page letter outlining demonstrated leadership on campus and/or in the community. Applicants are required to confirm their First Nations, Inuit, or Métis identity by completing the Indigenous Identity Confirmation Process for Students. Selection will be based on the most impactful demonstrated leadership on campus or in the community. In the event of equally qualified applicants, academic performance will be considered. If the recipient is in a co-op stream, they will be invited to interview for a co-op opportunity at Walterfedy. The student must maintain registration in a B.Eng. Co-op program at the time of the co-op opportunity. Students may hold this award more than once. There is a maximum of one co-op opportunity per student. If there are no eligible applicants, the student(s) with the highest cumulative average who have completed the Indigenous Identity Confirmation Process will be selected.
