Established on behalf of Brackin, Kaija-Lou and Zarha, beloved companions of Kevin Banger and Kevin Flanagan. The donors are not graduates of OVC but their affinity is through their great love for animals. The hope is that their scholarship will inspire students to "pay it forward" with a hand up to someone else whenever the opportunity arises within their careers. Apply by October 7th with a completed Financial Need Assessment Form to Student Financial Services, and submit a cover letter, resume and a letter of reference from a direct supervisor or faculty advisor detailing the student’s experience (including demonstrated leadership, and impact and scope of their work) in canine welfare and enrichment during the Fall call for applications from the OVC Dean’s office. Selection of the award recipient will be based on the student who demonstrates the greatest leadership in support of canine welfare and enrichment as reflected in the letter of reference outlining volunteer involvement in non-profit organizations with an animal welfare focus or similar within the OVC student clubs. In the event of equally qualified candidates, the award will go to the applicant with the most volunteer experience that helped contribute to improved canine welfare and enrichment. This award can only be held once.

Students registered in Phases 3 or 4 of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program with demonstrated financial need, along with volunteer experience in canine welfare and enrichment in the community or within the OVC student clubs.
