Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

For More Information

For more information, please visit the CIHR Institute Advisory Boards (IAB) website.

Description

CIHR is comprised of 13 Institutes that promote and build upon Canada’s firm foundation of research excellence. An Institute Advisory Board (IAB) for each Institute provides advice and guidance on Institute activities and initiative, ensuring goals and mandates of the Institute are achieved.

CIHR will soon be launching its 2024 Institute Advisory Board (IAB) membership recruitment campaign. The IABs of CIHR's Institutes are composed of dedicated volunteer members from Canada and abroad who bring a wealth of experience and expertise, offering valuable perspective on Institute activities and initiatives. This annual recruitment campaign is vital to ensuring our IABs include a diverse group of representatives including those from the health research community to serve as members on the IABs.

The CIHR is committed to the values and principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across all aspects of the Agency. CIHR strongly encourages applications to the IABs from individuals belonging to Indigenous, Francophone (French as a first language) and equity-denied groups.

CIHR invites individuals and organizations from equity-denied communities to participate in the IABs. Your engagement is crucial to ensure that the unique perspectives and needs of these communities are addressed in health research, fostering meaningful changes in policies, practices and research.

CIHR focuses on advancing the health and well-being of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples by supporting Indigenous research initiatives, expanding research funding access and promoting capacity development. Participation in the Institute Advisory Boards (IABs) will ensure that Indigenous communities' needs and perspectives are represented and addressed in health research, making a tangible impact on promoting the well-being of this historically under-represented demographic.
