Description

Since 2000, the France-Canada Research Fund (FCRF) has provided financial support to the New Research Collaboration Program, which promotes partnerships between researchers in France and Canada.

The 2025 call for proposals is open to any research field and incentivizes interdisciplinarity. The FCRF aims to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Support the development of new expert partnerships between France and Canada
  • Promote the advancement of research and innovation
  • Prepare and structure scientific cooperation between the two countries
  • Promote researchers’ mobility, particularly for early-stage researchers
  • Provide research training for researchers at the master’s and doctorate levels

Eligibility

  • The FCRF is open to all fields of research.
  • Applications must be for joint projects between a French institution (all universities, grandes écoles, research institutes and organizations are eligible) and one of the 23 Canadian universities that are members of the FCRF.
    • Applications must come from principal investigators (PIs), both from research institutions located in France and Canada.
    • Both PIs must hold a tenure or a tenure track position.
  • The FCRF endorses new research collaboration between PIs who have never obtained a joint funding prior this application. In consequence, applicants must apply for a joint call for the first time.
    • Researchers who apply must never have worked together before (please refer to the FAQ and the FCRF guide for more information).
    • Exceptions may be granted for researchers who previously collaborated during their PHD or during a post-doctoral contract.
    • It is essential that researchers include students and young researchers in their work teams.
