Description
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is one of several federal departments participating in the Youth Green Jobs Initiative. At AAFC, the Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative is a part of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES), to incent employment opportunities and attract youth to green jobs within the agriculture and agri-food sector.
There are two streams under this initiative:
- Stream A – Green Farms: Farm operators could receive up to a maximum of $10,000 per intern to implement projects that are environmentally beneficial.
- Stream B – Green Internships: Employers in the agricultural sector but not directly on farm could receive up to a maximum of $16,000 per intern to undertake environmental activities, services or research that will benefit the agriculture sector.
Eligibility
Eligible employers include private businesses, not-for-profit organizations, provincial and municipal governments, associations, boards, councils, and universities. Subsidized employees must be under 30 years of age, have graduated from a college, university or CEGEP, have not previously received funding from Youth Employment Strategy programs, and be a Canadian citizen/permanent resident. Internships are to be at least 4 months long, ending no later than March 31st, 2019. Not-for-profit organizations may be eligible for government funding of up to 80% on a case-by-case basis.

External Deadline | The Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative will be accepting applications starting April 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. (EDT). Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early. There is no deadline to apply to this program. Please submit your application thru the Office of Research email address resserv@uoguelph and include a signed OR5 form one week in advance of your intended external submission date. The signature form with the Applicant Authorized Representative signature will then be returned to you within a week.

- Signature of Applicant Authorized Representative: Applicants must have their authorized representative(s) sign and attach this form to the Project Application Form.
- Annex A - Consent to Disclose Personal and/or Business Information Form: Written consent for the disclosure of third-party personal and business information to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). Third party information is information that is not in the public domain submitted about an individual and organization other than the Applicant. The department will use this information to assess projects under AAFC program streams. It may also use the information to determine eligibility for other programs and to evaluate agricultural programming and research. This includes Principal Investigators external to AAFC whose biographies are sent to AAFC as part of the application package.
- Official Language Minority Community: The information requested on this form is voluntary and will only be used to help AAFC improve its programs and services. Your application will not be deemed ineligible or assessed less favourably if this form is not completed.
