Virtual session via Zoom

Description

On the behalf of the Ontario-Baden-Wuettemberg Program, the University of Konstanz and the OBW coordination office cordially invite you to join a virtual info session on the OBW Faculty Mobility and Horizon Europe programs.

In cooperation with the University of Konstanz, KoWi - the cooperation office for the German science organizations for the European Union, based in Brussels - will give an introduction to EU-Funding opportunities for collaborative research, via the Horizon Europe programme.

The speakers will introduce the programme itself and then focus on its Pillar 2 – Global Challenges, which mainly offers top-down funding for international research consortia, and for which Canadian entities are fully eligible thanks to Canada’s association to the Horizon Europe programme.

Speakers:

  • Yvette Gafinen has worked as EU funding advisor at the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi) in Brussels since 2011. Her focus is on finance and legal issues as well as natural resources and environment in Cluster 6 of Horizon Europe. Previously, she worked as EU funding advisor at Bielefeld University. Yvette has a background in European Studies and Franco-German Studies.

  • Inga Benner is also EU funding advisor at KoWi (responsible for Horizon Europe Cluster 1 health), the European Innovation Council and Knowledge Valorisation. She has worked in several roles in EU funding and policy, including as Deputy Director of the UK Research Office, as Senior Programme Officer at the Centre for Economic Policy Research as well as at King’s College London, the Goethe Institute Brussels and the European Parliament.

The speakers will explain how to find the right opportunities, explain the application process, show some project examples and also give some hints and tips on how to find partners and build consortia.

A brief overview of how the OBW Faculty Mobility program can serve as seed funding to facilitate the greater Horizon Europe application will also be given.
