Description
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) is now accepting faculty applications for Summer 2026. GRI pairs professors in Canada with top senior international undergrads for 12-week research projects from May to October. Projects must start between May 1 and July 31 of 2026.
Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is open to undergraduates from the following countries and regions: Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States. From May to October of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering, and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences.
The Globalink program builds international networks and positions Canada as a top research and innovation destination for emerging talent around the world.

- Top-ranked senior undergrads travel from around the world.
- Faculty can submit multiple projects.
- Resubmit projects from previous years by using the clone option on the platform.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for hosting interns as part of the Globalink Research Internship program, you must:
- Have one of the following statuses at an eligible institution: Full professor, Associate professor, Assistant professor, Adjunct professor, Emeritus professor
- Be able to supervise international students at your institution
- Be able to host interns within the stipulated dates of the GRI program: Internships must start between May 1 and July 31 and must be delivered over the course of 12 consecutive week.
Project Duration
Globalink Cycle and Important Dates
- April to June 2025: Faculty Application - Faculty submit research projects to Mitacs. Applications are due by June 5, 2025, at 4:00 pm ET| 1:00 pm PT.
- August to October 2025: Student Application - International students submit applications and select research projects. Mitacs conducts an eligibility review of student applications.
- November to January 2026: Matching - Professors review and rank student applications. Mitacs finalizes offers to students.
- February to April 2026: Pre-internship Preparation - Successful students start working with their host professors to arrange pre-internship details; Mitacs oversees logistics.
- May to October 2026: Internship - Globalink research interns arrive in Canada for their 12-week research project.
