Description

The NATO Innovation Challenge is seeking innovative solutions to identify, warn, assess and manage biological threats to protect NATO forces, Allies and civilian entities. Solutions can include any combination of methodologies, concepts, techniques and technologies. The purpose of the NATO Innovation Challenge is to tap into the minds of innovative people and teams to find more effective and efficient ways for NATO and other response organizations, to ensure security and respond to crisis situations. Relevant solutions could support the development of future NATO concepts, doctrine, standards, requirements and capability development. Relevant solutions will get stage-time at NATO-wide events. Solutions can include any combination of methodologies, concepts, techniques and technologies.

The focus of the 2024 NATO Innovation Challenge is Remote Explosive-Contaminated Area Recognition and Neutralization, otherwise known as remote mine clearance operations.

In conflict and post-conflict areas, the presence of explosive-contaminated zones is a major danger to both military and civilian populations. The challenge is to create innovative solutions for remote reconnaissance and neutralization of these areas to guarantee safe passage for personnel and aid recovery efforts. Emphasizing efficiency, safety and reducing human intervention are key priorities for these solutions.
