Description

Led by Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI), the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) delivers programming to support research and development (R&D), talent development and technology acceleration in Ontario’s automotive and mobility sectors.

OVIN is a key component of Phase Two of Driving Prosperity, the Government of Ontario’s ambitious plan that positions Ontario as a North American leader in developing and building the car of the future through emerging technologies and advanced manufacturing processes. The Government of Ontario has committed an additional $56.4 million, for a total investment of over $141 million to date, through OVIN’s innovative programming.

OVIN’s programs support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop, test, validate and commercialize new automotive and mobility products and technologies, and cultivate the capacity of a province-wide network to drive future mobility solutions, reinforcing Ontario’s position as a global leader.

Please join us on Wednesday, November 30 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm for a virtual information session provided by Amanda Sayers, OVIN’s Director Skills Talent, Workforce Development, and Shannon M. Miller, OVIN's Project Lead, Strategic Partnerships.

Amanda and Shannon will provide an overview of OVIN’s skills, talent and workforce initiatives, which focus on supporting the sector to develop a highly skilled, adaptable and diverse workforce prepared to meet the needs of the future.

To RSVP for this session, please email ilp@uoguelph.ca or contact Gregor Lawson (lawsong@uoguelph.ca) for additional information.

Uof G staff and faculty are encouraged to review details of OVIN’s Regional Future Workforce (RFW) Program in advance of the session. The RFW Program provides up to $500,000 in funding to selected Ontario non-profit organizations, post-secondary institutions and school boards to develop and deliver 8-month-long automotive and mobility-focused programs that connect students from kindergarten to post-secondary to the sector. Expressions of interest for the RFW Program are due by November 30 (the same day as this information session). Please see the associated Research Alert for additional information.
