Description

Research is increasingly multidisciplinary and international—it’s fast-paced and often high risk, high reward. As research changes, the government must also change how to support and consult with researchers.

The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Sport, announced the next phase of the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF)―the community consultations for the Transformation stream. To be launched in October, this competition stream will support large-scale, Canadian-led interdisciplinary research projects that have the potential to bring about real and lasting change. The 2019 competition that will take place following community consultations will see an investment of $144 million over six years, with individual awards of up to $4 million per year.

Researchers and institutions are invited to provide feedback on the Transformation stream framework until August 1, 2019.

The Office of Research will be submitting an institutional response to the Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) request for feedback on the proposed New Frontiers in Research Transformation stream framework. We are seeking your feedback for the University of Guelph’s response to the proposed Transformation program.

If College-level review is required, your College will communicate its earlier internal deadlines.
