ResearchLink provides a web-based portal for faculty members to submit and route grant and contract proposals, protocol proposals for research involving humans, animals, biosafety and radiation through the internal approvals process and will help faculty organize their files and information related to research administration in a single database.
The web-based portal will allow access to protocols, proposals, and other information from any location. That’s a real benefit when working from home or travelling. Supported browsers include Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari & Internet Explorer
First module anticipated to be implemented in summer of 2016:
Human Ethics
E-submission to the Research Ethics Board (REB) on a smart form completed in ResearchLink will be automatically routed through review to approval. Researchers will be able to track the approval process from their dashboard; a submission’s whereabouts in the process will be clear.
Researchers can delegate to students tasks such as filling out the REB application and provide them feedback using the system as a teaching tool.
ResearchLink will provide notifications of certification expiry. Annual renewals will be submitted within the system, and resubmission will no longer be required after 5 years.
Department Chairs will not be required to review/approve Human Ethics protocols. They will receive copies of approved protocols for their information.
Support plan for Human Ethics implementation roll-out:
- Comprehensive training including online training guides and resources, classroom training and drop in sessions
- Transitional support for migrating in-progress applications to ResearchLink
- Support hotline for ResearchLink help
