Canadian Space Agency (CSA)
Description
In the last decade, the Canadian space community has expressed, through forums, conferences, and working groups, the need for frequent and accessible demonstration platforms for innovative space technologies. To address this need, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is currently working on establishing the framework for a Technology Demonstration Program that will support demonstration activities from ground to space.
To support this initiative, the SS&T directorate invites you to provide your opinion and comments through a Request for Information (RFI).
Understanding Technology Demonstration
Technology demonstration, for the purpose of the demonstration program, means to test technologies in a relevant environment or expected operational environment. A technology may require a specific demonstration:
- to gain flight heritage for potential commercial sales;
- for validation or qualification;
- for an eventual scientific experiment; and,
- to demonstrate a new product, service or application.
The questionnaire consists of twelve questions to assess your technology demonstration needs and obtain your opinion on a proposed framework of a model of Technology Demonstration initiative. You don’t have to answer it in one go as you can save it and access it at a later time if you need.
To obtain a personal link to the RFI email CSA at asc.demonstrationdetechnologies-technologydemonstration.csa@canada.ca.
Special Notes
Please note that research activities carried out in the context of COVID-19 need to adhere to the University of Guelph COVID-19 research principles, policies, guidelines and processes as they may be updated from time to time and communicated on the Office of Research web-page.
Deadlines
If College-level review is required, your College will communicate its earlier internal deadlines.

External Deadline | CSA’s Request for Information (RFI) on Technology Demonstration needs via an online survey has been extended to 2021-05-28. This RFI to the Canadian space sector will help the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) establish the parameters (e.g. budget, schedule, offer of service) for a sustainable and predictable Technology Demonstration initiative that best supports demonstrations activities from ground to space. Your participation is therefore essential. |
