ACS PRF New Directions

Description

The Petroleum Research Fund is an endowed fund, managed by the American Chemical Society that supports fundamental research directly related to petroleum or fossil fuels at nonprofit institutions generally in the United States and other countries. Grants are intended as seed money, to enable an investigator to initiate a new research direction.  Excluded from this consideration will be: Lead PI’s who have had previous support or current funding for the project; and Proposals presenting ideas that are a logical extension of ongoing research from the lead PIs group. Fundamental research is defined as “petroleum, natural gas, coal, shale, tar sands and like materials” and encompasses the properties of these materials.
