Description
Sponsors: The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Institute of Population and Public Health, Institute of Cancer Research, Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health, and Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health, in partnership with Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
The GACD partnership is launching a call for proposals with a focus on implementation research, which examines interventions that aim to prevent chronic lung diseases in LMICs) and in vulnerable populations in high-income countries (HIC) such as indigenous populations in Canada and Australia. The primary focus of all proposals must be on tobacco control policies (across sectors), and how these are/are not addressing the equity gap (gender, indigenous populations, other minority populations) that currently exists in patterns of tobacco use and related disease outcomes.
Eligibility
Teams must include researchers that are based in Canada and LMIC countries, as defined by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Development Assistance Committee. All countries on this list with the exception of India and China are considered eligible for this competition. Research with Canada’s Aboriginal populations is also eligible and in these cases, having international partners is not a requirement. Please read the sponsor guidelines for other eligibility criteria.
