Description
The Advancing Water Technologies (AWT) [2] Program is a new catalyst for business-led collaborations in the water sector. It was created by the Southern Ontario Water Consortium to help Ontario small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) leverage world-class research facilities and academic expertise to develop and demonstrate water technologies for successful introduction to the market. AWT provides financial contributions to industry-led research and development projects in the water sector that will result in the successful commercialization of globally-competitive and market-ready products and services. AWT will support existing industry-academic partnerships and actively encourage and develop new ones.
Amendments to the program guidelines now allow eligible southern Ontario companies to undertake more than one AWT project. Projects may also be more than 12 months, with applicable deadlines for Intake Form submission (see below). Applications for Large Projects (AWT contribution of more than $100,000) will also be considered, with additional requirements.
All other AWT Program eligibility criteria and requirements continue to apply; please refer to the AWT Program Guidelines [3] and the Addendum for Large Projects [4] (if applicable).
AWT is a three-year program ending on December 31, 2018. For applicants seeking projects of two-years duration, the deadline for a complete submission has now passed. For applicants seeking projects up to 18-months duration, an intake form must be submitted by March 1, 2017. For applicants seeking projects up to 12 months duration, an intake form must be submitted by September 1, 2017.
Eligibility
The AWT Program eligibility criteria and requirements will apply. Please refer to the AWT Program Guidelines [3] and the Addendum for Large Projects [4] (if applicable).
Indirect Costs
No indirect costs are required on the amount requested from the AWT Program. Indirect costs on cash contributions from Industry will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Additional facility access fees may apply to applicants utilizing SOWC’s research facilities/infrastructure, located across SOWC’s partner organizations.

If College-level review is required, your College will communicate its earlier internal deadlines.
