Sponsor
John Hopkins Center for Health Security
Description
The U.S. John Hopkins Center for Health Security [1] is seeking applicants who are talented, early career professionals from academia, government, defense, private industry, science, law, public health, medicine, global health, journalism, and the social sciences to participate in its 2018 Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative (ELBI) Fellowship Program. This program was created to identify, develop, and provide networking opportunities to the next generation of leaders in this field. This initiative is intended to be an opportunity to help professionals in biosecurity to innovate across disciplines and address key security, scientific, and health challenges, while expanding their own knowledge and expertise.
This is not a full-time fellowship and Fellows should continue with their primary jobs and/or studies while they participate in the Initiative. However, applicants are expected to participate in sponsored events and to submit a paper for the writing competition. The Initiative will cover expenses related to participation.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must: 1) be currently enrolled in or have graduated from a masters or doctoral program in the past 3 years or have at least 1 year of professional experience in national security, public health, medicine, law, global health, biotechnology, or a related field; and 2) submit a complete application.
Of the 28 fellows accepted into each class, 24 are typically US citizens, 2 are UK citizens, and 2 are Canadian citizens.
Special Notes
The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security covers travel expenses (air and ground), meals, and lodging for the two workshops and the symposium.
