Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) is pleased to announce, on behalf of the Government of Ontario, that the third round of the Ontario-Jiangsu Industrial Research and Development Program (OJIRDP) [1] is now open for applications. OJIRDP fosters opportunities for international industry-academic R&D collaborations that have an impact in both Ontario and in the Jiangsu province of China. A partnership of the Jiangsu Science and Technology Department (JSTD), Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE)and the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade (MEDJCT), OJIRDP supports projects leading to commercial success and economic benefits for both jurisdictions. Priority Fields The current call for proposals will accept project applications focusing on the following technology sectors:- Information and Communication Technology (ICT): Business Analytics, Security, Enterprise Applications, Software, Design and Development Tools, Broadband Access, Enterprise Networking, Home Networking, Mobile Applications, NGN & Convergence, Optical Networking, Telecom Applications, VoIP & IP Telephony, Wireless Applications and Wireless Infrastructure
- Life Sciences: Agrobiotech, Bioinformatics, Biologicals, Diagnostics, Healthcare IT, Industrial, Medical Devices, Telemedicine and Therapeutics
OCE will hold an information session [2] for the OJIRDP program via teleconference (Skype for Business) on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Eligibility
Funding is open on a competitive basis. Lead applicants should be:
In Ontario: An R&D performing company incorporated in Ontario or a publicly-funded post-secondary institution (university, college or research hospital) accredited in Ontario. Post-secondary institutions are strongly encouraged to have contributing industry partners, and vice versa companies may have post-secondary institutions as contributing partners if applicable.
In Jiangsu: An R&D-performing Jiangsu-registered company operating in Jiangsu. Academic/research entities are eligible to participate in the project as sub-contractors only.

Project terms must be between one and three years and are non-renewable.

External Deadline | An open call for the submission of Expression of Interest (EOI) to the program are being accepted from September 27, 2018 until November 13, 2018. Researchers are asked to submit a copy of their EOI to the Office of Research Services for information purposes only. Note: Researchers invited to full proposal must submit with their applications a letter of intent (“LOI”) signed by all applicants and partners detailing intellectual property rights and commercialization strategy for the product or process. If the project is funded, a fully executed IP Sharing Agreement or Collaborative Research Agreement must be incorporated as Schedule D (Intellectual Property Term Sheet) in the OCE Funding Agreement to be executed by OCE and the Applicant. Applicants are strongly advised to begin negotiation of the terms of the IP Sharing Agreement immediately after submission of an EOI in order to meet the Application deadline. Please contact ORS for assistance in negotiating IP terms. |
