The Panmure House Prize is an annual award of US$75,000 for research that explores the relationship between long-term thinking and radical innovation. The Prize is awarded to emerging leaders in academia and enables research that embodies Adam Smith's own approach to rigorous empiricism and long-term, interdisciplinary thinking. Prize winners utilize the award to conduct research from their home institution, working to publicize and publish their findings widely within peer-reviewed journals, national and international press, as well as curating first-look updates and interactive sessions on the Panmure House website.

The Prize is open to academics in and across all disciplines whose nominations are shortlisted and judged by our specially appointed Panmure House Prize Panel. The Prize is administrated in partnership with FCLTGLOBAL and supported by Baillie Gifford.

Eligibility

Eligibility:

• Submissions should explore topics related to the practical implementation of long-term thinking in relation to innovation, finance, and social and economic change.
• Submissions are welcome from academics from any discipline, at any stage based on research already conducted.
• Applications are encouraged from early career-researchers. We define this as those who are between 3-15 years post completion of PhD.
• Applications are also encouraged from those who are researching long term funding of innovation.
• Applicants to the Panmure House Prize must receive institutional support. 

Prize

The prize is $75,000USD.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the Panmure House Submission Space by the external deadline. Please submit an OR-5 and a completed application to research.services@uoguelph.ca by the external deadline.

• Submissions should be in English.
• Submissions should contain a PDF version of your CV. 
• Submissions should also contain a PDF version of a written reference of support by a relevant authority (head of department, head of school, dean, head of research or similar) in your institution.
• Should your submission be shortlisted, your institution will be required to agree to our Prize award Terms and Conditions and the Communications Appendix. These are available to download from the Panmure House Submission Space. 
  
  To this end, the application form requires the name, position and email address of  three key contacts: a senior University administrator who is able to agree to the legal terms on behalf of your institution, along with an alternate contact of similar seniority to be contacted in the event of their absence, and a senior communications colleague at your institution who can agree the terms of the communications appendix.  For U of G, please enter
