Description
In May 2021, the three federal granting agencies – the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) - launched the Tri-agency Interdisciplinary Peer Review Committee [2] (TAIPR) as a one-year pilot program. This committee provides an option for researchers working in interdisciplinary research to direct their applications to a committee composed of experts from across the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health sciences.
Applications were submitted to the committee via four participating Gateway Funding Opportunities: SSHRC Insight Grants [3], CIHR Fall and Spring Project Grant [4], and NSERC Discovery Horizons [5].
SSHRC is now pleased to announce [6] that a fifth funding opportunity has been added to the pilot. Researchers applying to the SSHRC Insight Development Grants [7] 2023 competition may now also direct their proposals to the Tri-agency Interdisciplinary Peer Review Committee [2] for review.
After a successful inaugural year, the agencies announced on May 12, 2022 [8], that the pilot was officially extended for a second year.
