Description
This funding opportunity intends to provide support for dementia care research that uses community-based participatory methods with rural and/or urban Indigenous populations. Funding will also work to iteratively build capacity among Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars and students in the area of dementia research.
Eligibility
Nominated Principal Applicant must be an independent researcher at a CIHR eligible institution at the time of application;
•At least one principal applicant or co-applicant must be a current CCNA researcher to ensure synergy with the CCNA. The list of current CCNA members can be downloaded from CCNA website; (Updated: 2016-05-31)
•The research team must include at least one knowledge user who self-identifies as either First Nations, Inuit or Métis or provide evidence of Indigenous-lived experience*. Regardless of Indigenous identity, such knowledge user(s) must state how their Indigenous lived experience will benefit the research study, and;
•The research team must include a minimum of two (2) Indigenous scholars and/or Indigenous students.

Special Notes
Release time allowance may be requested to facilitate the participation of a knowledge user in the proposed research program. The eligible cost is limited to $20,000 per annum per individual per grant.
