Description
This programme provides programming support for computational projects of exceptional potential that will have lasting impact and value and that require significant support from SHARCNET to proceed. For the current round, applications are encouraged that satisfy the programme objectives and priority will be given to proposals that:
- Propose a programme of work that deals with the efficient processing of large, heterogeneous datasets ("big data") using a variety of data mining, machine learning or other analytics software.
- Propose a programme of work that will enable innovative projects from disciplines that are traditionally not major users of HPC.
- Propose to make novel, effective and large-scale use of non-standard architectures especially GP-GPU.
Eligibility
Faculty members with a valid SHARCNET account. (Faculty can register for a SHARCNET account at any time. Users must also be registered with Compute Canada.)
Funding Availability
SHARCNET will provide programming and development support by one or more SHARCNET personnel. Projects are expected to last 2-4 months, with SHARCNET personnel spending a maximum of 50% of their time on the project. Longer projects will be considered, but will be held to greater scrutiny. Renewal requests will be reviewed by the selection committee and judged alongside new proposals.
Maximum Project Value
No dollar value.
Indirect Costs
N/A
Project Duration
Two to four months, although longer projects will be considered (see above).
Special Notes
Applications from teams of faculty are especially encouraged, especially if they are interdisciplinary and/or inter-institutional. All applicants must consult with one of the SHARCNET HPC Consultants before submitting to ensure that it meets the requirements for eligibility in the support programme and contains sufficient detail to justify their demand for support.
Deadlines
If College-level review is required, your College will communicate its earlier internal deadlines.
