U of G-Developed Techniques for Reducing Cattle Methane Emissions Awarded Innovation of the Year Award
A University of Guelph innovation that utilizes genetic selection methods to mitigate methane emissions in dairy cattle is the recipient of the University’s Innovation of the Year Award [1] for 2023.
This annual award is presented by the Office of Research [2] and the Research Innovation Office [3] to acknowledge researchers for their creative strategies or products that positively impact people's lives.
This year's winning innovation was the result of a collaborative effort involving researchers and industry partners from around the world, including U of G researchers Dr. Christine Baes [4], Dr. Flavio Schenkel [5], and Dr. Saeed Shadpour from the Department of Animal Biosciences in the Ontario Agricultural College, as well as Dr. Filippo Miglior from Lactanet Canada [6] and Dr. Francesca Malchiodi from Semex [7].
