Vice-President of Research Visits France to Strengthen Global Research Partnerships
Dr. Rene Van Acker, vice-president (research), led a delegation from the University of Guelph, including Dr. Stuart McCook, assistant vice-president (international), and Dr. Eric Lyons, associate dean of research and graduate studies at the Ontario Agricultural College, on a visit to France. The visit's purpose was to enhance the University of Guelph's global research and discovery partnerships in food and agriculture, environment and One Health.
The U of G delegation visited the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne following a visit from that institution in the fall of 2023. The U of G delegation also met with AgroParisTech, INRAE, the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty and the Canadian Embassy in Paris.
The visit focused on promoting collaborations with French universities and organizations, showcasing interdisciplinary research approaches, real-world impact and networking opportunities, and was organized with the support of the Embassy of France in Canada.
“The University of Guelph is dedicated to forging global partnerships that transcend boundaries,” says Van Acker. “By expanding connections with premier research institutions worldwide, we're poised to address complex challenges, improve lives, and shape a sustainable future for all.”
