My study investigates feather pecking behaviour and the gut-brain-axis in laying hens. I conducted preference testing for non-supplemented and synbiotic-supplemented water to find whether relative preference for synbiotic water can alleviate feather pecking during stressful conditions. Synbiotics, containing probiotics, have been shown to counteract feather pecking to improve animal welfare and behaviour.
