Sampling by Moonlight
Undergraduate Research Assistant, Amy Mathialagan, is collecting sampling equipment at the end of a long day of field research. The moon is rising on the horizon as she works. The research project she is working on investigates at the effects of grassland management on wild bees in Southern Ontario pasture systems. Historically the extensive native grasslands of North America were pollinator havens, but much of these habitats have been lost. Management of remaining grasslands, including agricultural pasture and rangeland, should therefore be considered from the perspective of pollinator conservation.
