In 2014, Katie Brown, a fourth year BLA student, earned her LEED Green Associate credential. A LEED Green Associate credential certifies that a given professional demonstrates a generalized knowledge of green design, construction and operations. Upon earning this credential, a LEED Green Associate can be a part of an integrative project team for a wide variety of green design projects.

Katie undertook an independent study course under the supervision of Professor Sean Kelly in the Fall of 2014 to create a LEED Green Associate handbook for fellow students in the SEDRD community. Within the handbook is a background of LEED, its value in Landscape Architecture, how to register, prepare for and write the exam, and information on credential maintenance.

Another BLA student, Jonathan Behnke, also has the LEED Green Associate credential, and four other students, Connor Blaikie, Peter Henley, Nadja Pausch and Andrew Merrett will be writing their exams in February.
