Professor's Sean Kelly and Karen Landman attended the LAF Summit on Landscape Architecture and the Future [1] in Philadelphia, June 10-11, 2016. The Summit marked the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Concern written by Ian McHarg and 5 other leading landscape architects in 1966, which brought attention to environmental crises and identified landscape architecture as critical to solving these crises. For two days, 75 speakers and panelists identified concerns for landscape architects to address over the next 50 years, through practice, research and education. A new declaration will be developed from the Summit discussions, and will be presented at the ASLA 2016 Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
