Through a historical lens, this course introduces some of the central issues for women in Canada today. We will look at the history of women's movements and changes in public policy, at triumphs and continuing challenges, from the end of World War II to now. The course examines the shifts in gender roles and expectations, and how these shifts have affected the economy and culture. We will also consider topics such as sexuality, family, gendered violence, and activism.
