Required Qualifications:
Applicants must:
a) Be enrolled in a Chemistry graduate program;
b) Have completed a B.SC. degree in chemistry or a related field;
c) Have previous experience teaching in chemistry laboratories (CHEM*1040 and/or CHEM*1050 or equivalent at another university);
d) Be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching and satisfactory teaching performance;
e) Be able to demonstrate an ability to create and maintain a safe work place;
f) Have experience running chromatography and spectroscopy instruments;
g) Applicants must be able to provide documentation indicating they have completed the following training programs: Lab Safety Training (EHS), WHMIS Training (EHS), Worker Health & Safety Awareness (EHS), Accessible Service Provision (CourseLink) and Making Education Accessible (CourseLink).
Selection of successful candidates will be made in accordance with Article 11.06 of the CUPE 3913-1 collective agreement. Assignments to particular courses will be made in accordance with departmental needs and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
a) Experience with GC, GCMS, LCMS, FTIR, UV-VIS;
b) Research should be in the area of analytical chemistry or physical chemistry (min 1 year);
c) Previously taken CHEM*3440 as an undergraduate student;
d) Experience as a TA for CHEM*2400, CHEM*2480, CHEM*3430 or CHEM*3440;
e) Have completed the Supportive Teaching: Fostering Psychological Safety for Effective Learning workshop and obtained the corresponding certificate.
