Other Duties Described:
GTA will be required to attend all mandatory TA meetings and training, including introductory meeting/training to be scheduled Sept 5-15, 2023 EVEN IF you have already TA'd this course before. Quiz-room and Help-room hours will require TAs to work during regular University Instructional hours (8:30 am to 7:00 pm.) as required. Labs are graded online and can be completed at any time prior to the scheduled deadline for submission of grades. Other duties could include administrative tasks associated with the quizroom/helproom facilities or regrading assignments. There will be the opportunity for some teaching assistants to take on an emphasis on the Lab or Quiz components of the courses. TAs will give availability of multiple dates and times to Quiz Room coordinator, Undergrad Lab supervisor and/or First Year coordinator and shifts will be assigned accordingly. TAs are expected to arrive on time for each scheduled shift and stay for the duration of their allotted time slot. Assigned duties will vary week-to-week, based on assessment deadlines; TAs will be notified well in advance, and are expected to meet all deadlines and assigned shifts. Scheduling will be conducted with an overall goal of ensuring that all TAs meet their full work hour commitment by the end of the semester. Shift switching – TAs will be required to follow a strict protocol for changing shifts, if needed. Failure to do so runs the risk of significantly impacting the operation of these large courses, so must be strictly adhered to. For TAs involved in laboratory help sessions, mandatory meeting times will be scheduled for TAs to familiarize themselves with the experiments. Lab grading assignments will be assigned most weeks, with a grading scheme provided and a firm deadline assigned for TAs. Due to large course enrolments, TAs will be scheduled to invigilate multiple exams, including exams for other physics courses.
