Other Duties Described: 
MANDATORY in-person GTA meeting will take place the first week of the semester within business hours. Date & time will be communicated prior to the start of your contract. The successful candidate will help the course instructor supervise a 3-hour lab on Thursday night (19:00 – 21:50) each week. No grading will be included in this position, and the successful candidate will not be expected to provide office hours or answer questions by email.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 
The successful candidate should be enrolled in one of the Department of Physics majors (Physics, Theoretical Physics, Biological & Medical Physics, or Chemical Physics) and must have completed PHYS*2180 – Experimental Techniques in Physics with a minimum grade of 90%. The successful candidate must possess exceptional communication skills and be comfortable in a laboratory setting. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate strong judgment and academic maturity. Interviews will be conducted Dec 9-13-2024 as necessary
Preferred Qualifications: 
Completion of PHYS*3510 – Intermediate Laboratory with a minimum grade of 85% would be considered an asset but is not required. Enthusiasm and an ability to explain physics concepts to students from a wide range of undergraduate backgrounds would be a significant asset.
Days Required and Wages
Days and Times Required: 
Thursday: 7:00-10:00pm Hours Breakdown: Conducting Labs: 30 hours (one 3-hour section per week for 10 weeks) Preparation: 30 hours Training: 3 hours (3 mandatory one-hour training courses for first-time TA) Meetings With Instructor: 2 hours (beginning and end of semester) Feedback on New Experiments: 5 hours (provide instructor with feedback after completing 2 experiments newly added to the course) MANDATORY in-person GTA meeting will take place the first week of the semester within business hours. Wage Rate (per hour, per semester, per Full-load 1.0 Work Assignment): 
UTA $30.28/hr effective 2024/25
