In this specialized course, students will explore timely and significant issues that are important to their understanding of the current media and communications landscape. They will also investigate the impact of these issues on their future roles in the media industry. The course content and availability will vary annually. Masters related to field
Prior Teaching Experience: 
Successful teaching related to field at college or university level
Required competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Submission of a timely and relevant proposal that focuses on an emerging and critical issue affecting the practice, consumption and/or impacts of media and/or media industries. The course proposal should include course title, description, learning outcomes and outline, briefly highlighting weekly lectures/activities. It should also meet the criteria outlined below.

Quality and or Recent Research activity in related field demonstrating knowledge of current developments in course content.
Specific Preferred competence, capability, skill and ability related to course content: 
Candidates should provide in their application evidence of prior teaching experience and teaching success/excellence related to course content, which may include a dossier, teaching philosophy, examples of teaching innovations, course developments, evaluations of previously taught courses (e.g., peer evaluations and/or student feedback), reference letters, and any other relevant information they wish to have evaluated by the selection committee (some documents on file in the department or program, such as UofGH Student Feedback Questionnaires of courses taught on UofG contracts, may also be used). Experience in a media or communications industry relevant to the topic proposed. Proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria: timeliness/urgency; relevance to MCS Areas of Emphases; potential to impact the student's future success as a media professional; and applicant's demonstrated expertise relevant to the course proposed. Proposed topics should not be covered in existing courses (see Schedule of Studies: https://calendar.uoguelph.ca/guelph-humber-calendar/programs/media-communications-bmsc/#requirementstext).
