- This course builds on the theoretical frameworks that have formed the foundation of the field of intercultural communication studies. The course begins by assisting students in gaining an understanding of themselves as cultural beings. To develop the essential tools to communicate and behave effectively and appropriately in intercultural situations, students will discover, explore, and analyze cultural values and their function. The class will work through theoretical models to develop an understanding and appreciation of the multifaceted nature of intercultural situations. To demonstrate their grasp of salient concepts covered, students will critically analyze case studies, give presentations, and apply evaluative models to critical intercultural incidents.
