Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 
Applicants must: (a) be enrolled in a Chemistry graduate program in an area of synthetic chemist (Organic, Inorganic, Main Group), (b) have completed a B.SC. degree in chemistry or a related field, (c) have previous experience teaching in chemistry laboratories (CHEM*1040 and/or CHEM*1050 or equivalent at another university), (d) be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching and satisfactory teaching performance, (e) be able to demonstrate an ability to create and maintain a safe work place, including hazardous waste management and housekeeping skills, (f) expertise with pyrophoric reagents, toxic gases, toxic/corrosive gases, photochemical reactor, microwave reactor, Schlenk lines, inert atmosphere techniques, inert atmosphere glove box, (g) excellent spectroscopy skills (NMR, ATR-FTIR, GC, CG-MS, UV-VIS, CV, Polarimetry), (h) Applicants must be able to provide documentation indicating they have completed the following training programs: Lab Safety Training (EHS), WHMIS Training (EHS), Worker Health & Safety Awareness (EHS), Accessible Service Provision (CourseLink) and Making Education Accessible (CourseLink). Additional training as required. Selection of successful candidates will be made in accordance with Article 11.04 of the CUPE 3913-1 collective agreement. Assignments to particular courses will be made in accordance with departmental needs and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications: 
(a) Ph.D. Candidate in Main Group/Inorganic Chemistry, (b) at least one year of research experience and solid knowledge of chemical literature, (c) Experience as a TA for CHEM*3640 would be considered an asset

Wage Rate (per hour, per semester, per Full-load 1.0 Work Assignment): 
GTA $47.87/hr; $6,707.00/semester effective 2024/25
