Research Summary: Anaerobic digestion of manure offers an opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower pathogen load, provide an energy source and enable nutrient cycling to soil. This research project aims to enhance the environmental stewardship of poultry and egg producers by investigating the anaerobic digestion of biochar amended poultry manure. This study could provide a new management practice that could reduce the carbon footprint of the chicken industry.
