Research Summary: Above-ground burial is a livestock mortality management strategy that can be used in emergency circumstances (infectious disease outbreak, natural disaster, or other unpredictable events) and may have fewer drawbacks that are of concern with current strategies, such as biosecurity and environmental contamination. This project will assess the efficacy of above-ground burial for varying sizes of herds under different season conditions to determine if it is indeed a more effective emergency management strategy.
