Research Summary: Specialty crops present opportunities for Ontario agri-businesses to develop niche markets and integrate into established supply chains. However, there are economic challenges and risks specific to the industry that need to be considered when promoting these sectors. This project will map the Canadian hazelnut supply chain using a suite of tested methodological approaches, with the goal of evaluating the market potential for Ontario hazelnuts while considering supply chain costs, lead times and responsiveness.
